Quill's funds

Quill broke my heart. Not that she needed any story behind her, but she really did. One of the saddest dogs to cross my path in a long time.

The moment I took her off the heavy chain at the shelter, 4 hours before she was to be gassed, I knew she needed to be rescued, not just find a forever home, but rescued from her past. I picked her up, put her in the crate and immediately teared up. Sometimes rescue is too hard, and it hits you right in the heart.

She was pregnant, but could not walk anymore and was in pain. She was spayed in order to prevent her further hardships. There was no possible way for her to take care of her pups let alone give birth to them. She was a mess and hard decisions needed to be made for her.

But the sadness did not end there. The vet who spayed her called me and told me how wonderful and sweet she was, and how she also broke their hearts at the clinic. My fear came true: her leg was broken, her hip was displaced, and it was likely due to severe trauma. She had lived a horribly painful and miserable life, and you could see it in her eyes. She had learned to live with this break, and had adjusted to walking on three legs when the pain was too much. She was a survivor and we were going to give her a reaso to live!

When she came home to me, even under sedative, she was different. She looked at me with something more in her eyes. She was going to recover and my heart recovered too.

Because she's shown me that hearts can mend it's high time we show her that broken legs can too...

We NEED to raise $2000 for her. We have just over $100 for her already in the bank, but we need more. If you can spare anything, now is the time.

Quill plays now with other dogs, she has zoomies, she even bounces in the morning to tell me she's happy to be alive... but her happniess comes with a price of pain. She wants the freedom to drop her past and begin her future, and we have the opportunity to give that to her...

Being happy should not be painful...
